Ask for Referrals—They Won’t Mind, Really!

Finally, tell them you appreciate referrals and ask if they know anyone else who might benefit from your services.

If someone comes to mind immediately, ask if your client would be willing to introduce you. It can be as simple as an introduction via email, but you want your client to initiate the connection, not you. The “warm introduction” will more likely open the door for you, versus calling the prospect and saying that your client suggested you do so.

If no one comes to mind, ask that they keep you in mind if they hear about a colleague who could use your services.
